충성! Army Wives’ Guide to Korean Military Service

A!

For Army, that is… Not exactly the word that fangirls like to hear.

Like all other Korean men, the guys have to serve their responsibility to the country too – especially since the two Koreas are technically still at war. :(

So here’s a little section that gives a little more insight into the 2 and a half years they call “Military Service”:

The 5 Minute Introduction To The 4-week Basic Military Training Course

The Mechanics of Serving in the Korean Military

Hi can you guys please explain to me how come some of the singers/actors have to go to the military service, while other do not? For instance, Shin Hyesung, or Eun Jiwon, or Jang Donggun, etc. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Thank you.

Actually all Korean men between the age of 18 and 35 must serve a mandatory military duty, but some are exempted as they have suffered severe injuries before.

In Hyesung’s case, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury during the Guerilla Concert in 2001 and had his knee operated on, and for Jang Dong Gun, I’m not exactly sure but it seems that he suffered from pneumothorax (collapsed lung) in high school and underwent surgery for the condition.

Eun Jiwon completed his high school education in Hawaii before going back to Korea to join Sechskies. And for some reason his high school certification isn’t recognized in Korea and to be eligible for military service, you have to at least graduate from high school.

Thanks so much, this is really knowledgeable.

I’ve seen a clip of kim Jong Kuk shi last night and he becomes so leaner after discharge….and I am wondering why Eric oppa is getting fatter and fatter during the time he’s at the camp. Is it because they serve really good food at Christian church? :)

Well, haven’t seen lots of his photos during the service, unlike Dongwan shi that always (I means ALWAYS) slip the photos out of the camp. I am curious why he has built such a grief atmostphere right before getting into the camp!!!

well well well, just a complaining with love coz I really am happy to see Dongwan’s smile during the service.

    Miss him a lot.
